The Hague travel guide: shop shop shop

I wanted to say The Hague is shopping heaven, but honestly, everything is shopping heaven these days. But there are so many shops spread across so many pretty streets. Where to go:

  • De Passage: oldest shopping mall in the Netherlands
  • Grote Marktstraat: the high street with shops like H&M, Zara, Bershka, Stradivarius (<3), …
  • Denneweg: in earlier times this was the place for antiques, but now it’s a hotspot for lifestyle and design
  • Boekhorststraat: plenty of nice specialty shops
  • Hofkwartier: the historic center with plenty of cozy boutiques and luxury shops

The Hague travel guide: breakfast – brunch – lunch

Pistache Café

Salads, french toast, avocado on toast, green hipster-drinks and all of this is clean and organic. Recommendation alarm!

Love & Peas

Hummus. I don’t think I need to say more.

Walter Benedict

Another hotspot. Yummy, hip, and most importantly a very large menu.

Fish Houses

There are a couple of typical fish houses to find in The Hague. The place to be to score a nice and tasty herring (Dutch specialty). We went for a shrimp croquette.
“You girls want it in a sandwich?”
“Ehm, sure”
BEST decision ever. It was delicious.

The Hague travel guide: dinner

The Penthouse

The highest located restaurant of Holland, ladies and gentlemen. You can also hop in just for drinks if you like.

South of Houston

Meat lovers, one address!

BIT

Again yummy meat and perfectly located in the city center.

The Hague travel guide: hotel

We spent the night in the Savarin Hotel & Spa. For a 160 euros a night, I find it rather expensive, since it’s quite far from the city center. It’s a nice hotel altogether but I’m sure you can find something great for less in the center of The Hague. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay.
